FRANCIS ECK — CURRENT NEWS AND PROFILE THREAD
Updated October 18, 2026

In October 2026, Francis Eck’s studio announced that Élan des voiles, a 2026 palette-knife oil painting, is joining a private collection in Guadeloupe. The acquisition offers a timely starting point for a story about a former physical education teacher from Alsace who built an international painting career from the French Caribbean.

Born in Dannemarie, France, Eck held his first solo exhibition in nearby Altkirch in 1980. He now works in Saint-Martin, where expansive seascapes and gestural compositions share an emphasis on color and the physical surface of paint. A profile can follow that thread from his early exhibitions in Alsace through New York, Tokyo, Beijing, and Macao to the work taking shape in his studio today.

Élan des voiles: 2026, oil on canvas, palette knife, 65 × 54 cm (25.6 × 21.3 in). Its image is available on request and is not one of the twelve files in this kit. The studio is the source of the acquisition announcement. The collector’s identity and transaction details remain private.
