FRANCIS ECK — US STORY PROPOSAL
For: US visual arts and contemporary painting editors
Format: Artist interview with four annotated works.
Subject: Story idea: Francis Eck and the physical life of a seascape

Hello,

Francis Eck’s studio announced this October that Élan des voiles, a new palette-knife oil painting, is joining a private collection in Guadeloupe. I’m reaching out with an interview idea that starts with the work itself: how does a familiar marine horizon become a painting built from color, open space, and raised oil paint?

Eck is a French painter based in Saint-Martin. His 2026 seascapes, Lointaine écume and Là-bas, provide a useful counterpoint to the black marks and white grounds of Les Ailes de l’âme and Instant d’éveil, both painted in 2025. The same tool produces very different kinds of space.

The story would stay close to those choices rather than become a career roundup. His US exhibition history includes ARTEXPO New York in 1993 and Spiralis Gallery’s Vistas and Viewpoints in Easton, Maryland, in 2024. The press kit includes the four works, captions, source references, and image-by-image permission status.

I can coordinate an initial conversation and a selection of images for your section. A photograph of Élan des voiles is available on request.

Best,
Annabelle Eck
